Visiting the Silverlight Gallery in a Flash

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Microsoft Silverlight logo

Having heard of Adobe Flash’s would-be competitor earlier this month, I finally went over to the Silverlight Gallery to see how it significantly differs with Flash. A plug-in is needed to view Silverlight movies so I first downloaded the Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 beta plug-in and installed it. It’s a good thing that the developers included support for Firefox and Safari browsers in their beta release, though support for Opera would be much more appreciated.

A First Glimpse at WarRock PH: Training

WarRock PH

I spent a few hours a while ago testing out WarRock Philippines. I’m not really into FPS games but I enjoyed this one. First, I explored a couple of maps to see what’s in store for me, so I went into training. Some maps were impressive and large enough for 2 teams of 10. There were also lots of things to do in the game. You can ride a bike, a humvee, a half-track, or a heavy tank. You can choose from 5 character classes as well- engineer, medic, sniper, assault, or heavy weapons. Second, I joined a few games. As one would expect from a closed-beta release, there were only a few players in-game. However, I expect a lot of FPS gamers to swarm the servers when WarRock PH reaches open beta. There is currently one server, but there’s plenty of room for closed-beta players. Anyway, I joined a deathmatch game and a capture-the-flag team type game. The team game was a lot of fun because I was able to use different vehicles as well as character classes. Although communication among the team members wasn’t in sync, it wasn’t a hindrance to really have a feel of the game. Meanwhile, check out my training screenies. I hope you’d be able to join WarRock PH during its final release.
