World in Conflict Open Beta Now Available for the PC
World in Conflict is an RTS game for the PC (Xbox 360 soon) developed by Massive Entertainment. World in Conflict takes place in an alternate reality in the year 1988 where economic troubles were experienced by the now defunct USSR. The game gives the players an experience of what the Cold War would be like if it became really hot. Players can choose from 4 roles- infantry, air, support and armor. There are reportedly 3 factions that players can choose from- USA, the Soviet Union, and NATO. According to the Wikipedia article, there will be no base-building or resource gathering in the game. Instead, players will be given a pre-determined amount of in-game credit to buy units with.

Now thats a different approach to RTS gaming. No resource gathering and base building means we can focus more on planning and the winner will be the one who plans strategically and not the one who has hoarded the most resources and has the best base.
Eww but the system requirements looks like another notice to me that my PC is turning into a piece of antique.

True! True! But yeah, the hardware specs are way too high for me. I’ll try to force it to install in my old system. I have less than 2Ghz of single core processor and only 512MB of DDR memory. Let’s see.

I just played this game yesterday. I had less than the minimum system requirements so I played the multiplayer game with the lowest possible settings.
This game is really addictive! I thought I’d only last a couple of hours with this game, but I played it for 7 hours yesterday. The VOIP communication feature is really funny. I’d hear my teammates cuss or laugh.
The nuke was awesome. There were several occasions where the bomb was detonated right in front of my screen. My PC just froze! Haha!
You should try it out. 2 months more ’til the official release comes out. I wouldn’t be able to play the multiplayer game again by that time so I’ll just make the most out of it now.

You can’t ask us for a CD key. You need to contact the distributor (Sierra) or the developer (Massive) if you really lost your key. Create a support ticket on there and you’ll surely get a replacement CD key in no time.
