Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.413 Update
An update for Yahoo! Messenger has been released. It isn’t confirmed yet if this is an emergency update in response to a vulnerability found in the software which could be exploited by a specially crafted address book entry.
A direct download link for the offline installer is provided below:

I have never been a fan of Yahoo messenger. I prefer GoogleTalk or Skype over Yahoo messenger. However, my friends and family all have YM so I use it sometimes just for their sakes. Thanks for the helpful info.

Your tip is of great use for me, as I’ve just started using YM. This is better, I suppose, than Skype or something of the kind. So, thanks for sharing

Interoperability with Windows Live Messenger -This allows, for Yahoo! and Windows Live Messenger users to chat toeachother without the need to create an account on the otherservice, provided both contacts use the latest versions of the clients. For now,it’s impossible to talk using the voice service among bothmessengers.

Yahoo! offers PC to PC telephone, file transfers, webcam hosting, text messaging service, and chat rooms in various categories. In addition to instant messaging features similar to those offered by ICQ, it also offers (on Microsoft Windows) many unique features such as: IMVironments (customizing the look of Instant Message windows), address-book integration and Custom Status Messages. It was also the first major IM client to feature BUZZing and music-status. Another recently added feature is customized avatars.

Messenger Themes, the Online Presence, a small HTML “button” you can put onto your Web site to allow your Yahoo buddies to instantly see if you are online, and voice chat, which allows you to talk for free to anybody else on the Internet. If you have a microphone and speakers, you can talk to other people on Yahoo with no long-distance charges. Using a Webcam, you can see who you are chatting with, or view the Webcam of any Yahoo member who has granted you access. I love it.
