Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, has delivered World in Conflict, the game unanimously chosen as the Best Strategy Game of E3 2007 to retail stores across North America today for the personal computer. The highly anticipated action-strategy game was created by Massive Entertainment, a Sierra Entertainment internal studio, and is available in both Standard and Collectors Edition versions for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and $59.99 respectively.
Sierra Entertainment is extremely proud to have delivered World in Conflict, one of the premier PC games of 2007, the best strategy game of the year and a title that will appeal to fans of all genres, said Martin Tremblay, president of worldwide studios, Sierra Entertainment. World in Conflict represents the next-generation of PC gamng, effectively blurring the lines between strategy, action and first-person-shooter with amazing DX10 graphics, groundbreaking multiplayer, and a deep, emotional single player game. I got the chance to play World in Conflict online during the open beta event two months ago and it was a lot of fun. World in Conflict kept me occupied for a month because of that (until the beta ended). This time with the single player mode finally available, players will have a chance to go through the campaign which starts at various parts of the United States, followed by the Soviet-occupied Europe, then to Russia and lastly, back to the United States for the grand finale. The single player campaign wasn’t included in the beta version of the game, by the way.

I was wonder if anyone else was have a directx critical error. When i try to start up the demo the screen goes black then fades away and comes up with this error: “CRITICAL ERROR DirectX9.0b or higher must be installed to run World in Conflict.” I check my directX and i have 9.0c. Just wonder if anyone else has/had the same problem.

I haven’t encountered this though, even if I have way older specs than yours. I’m playing the full game, by the way.
Since the problem is related to DirectX 9, then it’s just a software issue. Try reinstalling DX9c and update your video card driver. If you can find an alternate driver for your video card such as the one in OmegaDrivers, try installing it instead.

same configuration as Kevin and same problem for me … AMD and/or Geforce problems ? I Will test omega drivers too …

same problem with omega … Lucky pple …

Ok … PROBLEM SOLVED for me;
I’m posting the issue solution as linked here:
SOLUTION :

You may get this error if your NVIDIA motherboard firewall is enabled.
Try the following workaround which involves ending NVIDIA Firewall processes before launching the game again.
You can do that by doing the following:
1. Holding down the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys on your keyboard select the Task Manager and click the Processes tab.
2. Then click on the gray bar that says “Image Name”. (This will sort the processes by user name.)
3. Now close all or any of the five processes listed below:
* apache.exe
* ntrayfw.exe
* nsvcip.exe
* nsvcappflt.exe
* nsvclog.exe
NOTE: You are not permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.

Have a nice day and GG ALL always! ^_^

I am having a script error come up when I try to start my game. Does anybody know why
December 17th, 2007 at 0:27
Chris,
I’m sorry but I can’t provide you with enough help with the information you gave. Can you post what the script error message is? It might have something to do with your installed security software (antivirus, firewall, antispyware applications).

I actually participated in the beta testing for this game. I did not find it very entertaining. Towards the end of testing I decided not to buy it.
My dad, and old war vet freaking thinks this game is a work of art though, he has been playing it for 6 months and that is pretty much all he does in his retirement time now is play WIC

What i’d like is a NATO based expansion with a campaign that follows characters from France, Germany and Britain forcing the Russians out of France, out of Germany and back into the Soviet Union. Maybe a few fights in Britain would be cool too. (kind of like the spetz natz mission in New York)

World in Conflict does not offer base-building or resource gathering. Instead, players are given a pre-determined amount of in-game reinforcement points to buy units. When a player buys a unit, the reinforcements points are subtracted from the point bank and the units are airdropped to the field, with a 20 second wait for the units to arrive. When a unit is destroyed, the points that had been used to purchase it are slowly filtered back to the player: thus reinforcements can be summoned back into the fray. Tactical gameplay lacking base- and unit building is similar to real-time tactics (RTT) games, some of which feature intermittent reinforcements. Another example of the genre is Ground Control by Massive Entertainment[6], sometimes considered World in Conflict’s spiritual predecessor. In fact, the game’s designers considered the game to be an RTT

Edwardes’ early Gaiety hits included a series of light, romantic “poor maiden loves aristocrat and wins him against all odds” shows, usually with the word “Girl” in the title, including The Shop Girl (1894) and A Runaway Girl (1898), with music by Ivan Caryll and Lionel Monckton. These shows were immediately widely copied at other London theatres (and soon in America), and the Edwardian musical comedy swept away the earlier musical forms of comic opera and operetta. At Daly’s Theatre, Edwardes presented slightly more complex comedy hits. The Geisha (1896) by Sidney Jones with lyrics by Harry Greenbank and Adrian Ross and then Jones’ San Toy (1899) each ran for more than two years and also found great international success.
